Greetings from the US. I discovered your site as I was searching for a Table of Contents for Ondrej Sarek’s tab book of Jewish songs. Reading your pages, I can see that you envisioned your sample songs to be used mainly among Jews, in Jewish community settings. I would like to respectfully ask for your thoughts on the use of the tabs by a non-Jew, as tunes or as songs. I do not have any commercial use in mind, only to possibly share them as music, with friends or family. Thank you for your advice.

You are correct, that the songs presented here are mainly liturgical (i.e. religious). However, I view them also as having a folk character, meaning others take them up and use them in other contexts. I’ve also specifically selected works that I do not ‘own’, meaning the composers are not known or there is no longer copyright. As long as you keep in mind that the music has spiritual significance to Jews and treat it with the appropriate respect, it’s fine to use them as you like.
